Occasional lubrication of rubber seals, with a light
grease or petroleum jelly will greatly prolong the life
of your sprayer. Most importantly, a very light smear
on the sealing face on the top of the container will make
it easier to achieve an airtight joint, without having
to screw the pump on too tightly.
The piston ring, Pt no 609881 is accessed by first removing
the pump head and then removing the pump barrel by unscrewing
the two screws, Pt no 603870. When re-assembling ensure
that the gasket, Pt no 538758 is located on the two lugs
of the pump head and do NOT overtighten the screws Pt
No. 603870.
To lubricate, or replace the 'O' ring Pt no 503720 which
seals the nozzle holder into the pump head, it is first
necessary to push out the retaining pin, Pt no 608920
with a suitable pin punch, or mandrel.
If the pump to container seal is not leaking and the
pump appears to be working, but not building pressure,
the footvalve may be at fault. To check or replace the
footvalve, unscrew the retaining cap Pt No. 602700 and
carefully tip out the footvave spring Pt No. 615972 and
footvalve poppet Pt No. 710870. If the rubber face of
the poppet is damaged install a new one, remembering that
it should be introduced into it’s housing rubber
end first.
